See a 2:40 Quicktime Video Synopsis of the Seminar

This seminar is presented by Frank Felker, Founder and President of Six Minute Cinema. A leading proponent of short-subject visual storytelling, Frank outlines the power of shorts and how today anyone can catch lightning in a bottle at almost no cost with any camcorder and desktop video editing software - entry-level versions of which are now included free with both Mac and Windows computers.

With nearly twenty years experience producing music and video, Frank introduces novices to what’s possible with today’s digital video technology. He also covers essential filmmaking concepts such as character and setting establishment, pre-production planning, shot coverage and the use of music and sound effects to give even a homemade movie a professional feel.

Distribution via VHS, DVD and the Internet are also explored with an emphasis on how to maximize the impact of each.

In addition to screening three sample shorts which were produced by amateurs, and describing the Six Minute Cinema Digital Filmmaking Festival, In Search of Killer Shorts covers the following topics:

Shorts vs. Features

Storytelling Fundamentals

Understanding Today’s Technology

Pre-Production

Production

Post-Production
